Sheffield Wednesday won-out a helter-skelter away clash at Peterborough United to take their tally of League One wins this season to four out of five and continue their momentum through a testing week.
The closure of the transfer window was only one thing to contend with as trips to Wycombe and Peterborough promised to test the breadth of their squad. An own goal in the first half was pegged back before Yan Valery’s finish from Kieran Morrison’s corner earned a battling 2-1 win.
The early kick-off means Wednesday finished the match top of the division. It’s been an exciting start. Here are our ratings from London Road.
13. Ali Al-Hamadi - 8
On just before the hour and straight into it, laying off for Bannan to shoot just wide. Along with his other triple sub introductees, blitzed about, kept the ball and changed the game. | STEVE ELLIS 62. THE WILLOWS.OXSPRING.SHEFFIELD.SOUTH YORKS.S36 8ZZ. [email protected]. 07539-741975
14. Mason Burstow - 7
Played such an important role coming on. Showed big desire and workrate and could have scored. | Getty Images
15. Billy Mitchell - 8
Didn't start but he certainly finished. Came on before the hour mark with Burstow and Al-Hamadi and calmed things down, using his quality and experience. Some player. | Steve Elli
16. Liam Palmer - N/A
On late after Valery's knock. Made an important clearance and saw things out. | Steve Ellis
