Sheffield Wednesday won-out a helter-skelter away clash at Peterborough United to take their tally of League One wins this season to four out of five and continue their momentum through a testing week.
The closure of the transfer window was only one thing to contend with as trips to Wycombe and Peterborough promised to test the breadth of their squad. An own goal in the first half was pegged back before Yan Valery’s finish from Kieran Morrison’s corner earned a battling 2-1 win.
The early kick-off means Wednesday finished the match top of the division. It’s been an exciting start. Here are our ratings from London Road.
1. Joe Lumley - 7
Continued his assured start to life between the sticks with Wednesday, making a couple of decent saves and proving solid in the air. | Getty Images
2. Yan Valery - 7
Getting him involved high up the pitch down the right was clearly something Wednesday wanted to do - and for one reason or another weren't quite able to unlock it too regularly. Showed energy and desire and nodded in to win the thing. Off late with a knock. | Steve Ellis
3. Gabriel Otegbayo - 7
The fact is that focus will be placed on any hairy moments and he got away with one midway through the first half. Feeney was lost between him and Weaver for the equaliser but he rose to some important moments late on and all things considered the youthful pair did brilliantly to see things out. | Steve Ellis
4. Liam Cooper - 7
Rose highest to clear Wednesday of trouble early doors and followed it up with an important sprawling block not long after. A proper, experienced EFL defensive performance but one that ended at half-time after he seemed to look a little leggy. | STEVE ELLIS 62. THE WILLOWS.OXSPRING.SHEFFIELD.SOUTH YORKS.S36 8ZZ.
