The League Two side came to play and did well against an eight-change Owls side that couldn’t get themselves going for much of the game.
Full debuts were handed to Vasquez, Pol Valentin, Bambo Diaby, Di’shon Bernard, Anthony Musaba and Ashley Fletcher with much-needed minutes piled into the legs.
A laboured first hour was altered when Callum Paterson and Josh Windass emerged from the bench, with a late flurry of efforts more encouraging.
And after Bakinson bundled the ball home to cancel out Paddy Madden’s classy opener, it fell to Vasquez to make two shootout saves and take the Owls through.
9. Anthony Musaba - 5
Tried things but not much came off. Was afforded a great chance in broken play thanks to a Gregory lay-off on 21 minutes but saw it blocked. Wanted to run at players and showed glimpses of adventure but was marginalised more and more as the game went on. | Steve Ellis

10. Ashley Fletcher - 4
Crashed about and put the miles in but was a spectator in a quiet first half. Came alive briefly in the second, narrowly curling one wide. Wasn’t the only one, but just couldn’t get into the game. Off before the hour. | Steve Ellis

11. Lee Gregory - 6
Friday’s goalscorer was tenacious from the off and set about bringing players around him into play. The problem was, he didn’t get much chance. Produced some nice touches on the rare occasion he was given the opportunity and saw a shot blocked 10 minutes into the second half. | Getty Images

12. Callum Paterson - 8
On for Valentin on 58 minutes - again at right-back. Blitzed forward to provide a cross for Musaba soon afterwards. Made an impact, his left-foot shot on 72 minutes goalwards but blocked and heading inside for a good chance for Bakinson late on. Carded later on but took his pen nicely. Photo: Contributed
