Henrik Pedersen gives exciting Sheffield Wednesday takeover update as Owls close in on new era

Sheffield Wednesday are understood to be just hours away from finding themselves under new ownership.

Sheffield Wednesday manager Henrik Pedersen has said he has a “big confidence” that Arise Capital Partners LLC will complete their takeover of the club before tomorrow’s season finale against West Bromwich Albion at Hillsborough.

As reported by The Star earlier today (Friday), the beginning of a new era at Hillsborough has never felt closer. It is understood lawyers worked throughout the night to try and get the relevant paperwork in order. One source described the deal as ‘basically done’.

Arise set a target date of May 1 to complete their purchase of the Owls, and it is now only a matter of time before they are officially handed the keys to Hillsborough. Key consortium members David Storch, Michael Storch and Tom Costin are expected to be in attendance for tomorrow’s clash with the Baggies.

The May 1 date became a deadline for Arise, who were said to be wary of the process falling into the jurisdiction of the Independent Football Regulator next week - and the delays that would inevitably follow. Wednesday have been in administration for just over six months.

But with the process now on the cusp of being finalised, Owls boss Pedersen, who will be hoping to oversee his first home win in charge this weekend, is optimistic Arise will be installed as the new ownership group ahead of the season finale against James Morrison’s team.

Speaking to the media on Friday afternoon, Pedersen said: “You can feel where we are going that everyone is asking, ‘When will it happen? When will it happen?’ We are looking forward so much so we can start this rebuild of Sheffield Wednesday.

“So there is a very positive energy around it. It first has to be done and right now it is in the hands of the lawyers, and we all have a big confidence that it will happen tomorrow and hopefully before the game.

“Of course, it has been a tough, tough period for the players, the staff, the employees, the fans, for everyone who has a little or a big, big heart for Sheffield Wednesday. With those guys who are coming in now, with David, with Michael and with Tom, they are fantastic guys, and we are looking forward.”
