Sheffield Wednesday are searching for their first external manager in just over three years following the departure of Henrik Pedersen.
The Dane was relieved of his duties on Sunday afternoon, less than 24 hours after some fans had chanted for him to go during and after the Owls’ 2-0 defeat to Doncaster Rovers at the Club Doncaster Sports Village.
The defeat marked the Owls’ second loss in five days, with the team failing to cover themselves in glory in either outing, producing two flat and underwhelming performances.
Attention has now turned to finding Pedersen’s successor, although it remains to be seen who will be tasked with taking Wednesday forward. It remains an exciting time for the club following the takeover by Arise Capital Partners earlier this year.
It is clear that the betting markets do not necessarily provide a reliable indication of the direction the club’s managerial search will take, but they certainly offer a talking point. talkSPORT Bet have provided a list of potential candidates whom Wednesday could turn to in their search for Pedersen’s successor:

9. Andy Woodman - 33/1
Sacked by Bromley less than a week ago, Woodman was arguably a victim of his own success after guiding the London club from the National League to League One in just two years. He had been in charge for five years, overseeing an unprecedented period of success. | Getty Images

10. Liam Manning - 33/1
It is currently unclear if Manning is contemplating a return to management after stepping down as Huddersfield Town boss in May. He was granted compassionate leave in March, having made the club aware of ongoing personal matters relating to the tragic passing of his newborn son Theo in October 2024. Manning has also previously managed the likes of Norwich City, Bristol City and MK Dons. | Getty Images

11. Steve Cooper - 33/1
This would be an ambitious appointment. Despite struggling to make his mark at Danish club Brøndby in his most recent role, Cooper still has plenty of admirers. He enjoyed considerable success at Nottingham Forest, guiding them back to the Premier League in 2022 after taking charge midway through the season. He also came close to leading Swansea City back to the top flight on two occasions. | AFP via Getty Images

12. Gary Rowett - 33/1
Rowett is regularly linked with managerial vacancies in either the Championship or League One. The experienced EFL manager has been out of work since leaving Leicester City at the end of last season. He has managed seven different clubs over the past decade, including Stoke City, Oxford United and Millwall. | Getty Images
