Sheffield Wednesday are searching for their first external manager in just over three years following the departure of Henrik Pedersen.
The Dane was relieved of his duties on Sunday afternoon, less than 24 hours after some fans had chanted for him to go during and after the Owls’ 2-0 defeat to Doncaster Rovers at the Club Doncaster Sports Village.
The defeat marked the Owls’ second loss in five days, with the team failing to cover themselves in glory in either outing, producing two flat and underwhelming performances.
Attention has now turned to finding Pedersen’s successor, although it remains to be seen who will be tasked with taking Wednesday forward. It remains an exciting time for the club following the takeover by Arise Capital Partners earlier this year.
It is clear that the betting markets do not necessarily provide a reliable indication of the direction the club’s managerial search will take, but they certainly offer a talking point. talkSPORT Bet have provided a list of potential candidates whom Wednesday could turn to in their search for Pedersen’s successor:

13. Luke Williams - 33/1
Williams was previously considered for the Wednesday job, but his stock has fallen since then. Sacked by Peterborough United last month, the former Notts County boss has now been dismissed from his last two roles after managing fewer than 60 games in each. | Getty Images

14. Matt Bloomfield - 33/1
Although he was unable to keep Oxford United in the Championship last season, Bloomfield was surprisingly sacked by the U’s in May after just 22 games in charge. He joined the Kassam Stadium outfit in January following a brief spell at Luton Town, where he had overseen their relegation to League One just a few months earlier. 15. Stuart Maynard - 33/1
After guiding York City back into the Football League in May, Maynard left the club in July. The Minstermen said the decision had been made due to a "difference in direction and vision for the football club". Before taking charge at York, Maynard managed Notts County in League Two, guiding them to a play-off place in the 2024/25 season. | Getty Images
