Davis Keillor-Dunn doubles down on best position stance after eye-catching Sheffield Wednesday display
Davis Keillor-Dunn starred in Sheffield Wednesday’s 5-0 win over AFC Wimbledon at the weekend.
Sheffield Wednesday loanee Davis Keillor-Dunn has reiterated his belief that playing in the No.10 position is key to producing the best version of himself.
The attacker, who joined the Owls on loan from Wrexham last month, claimed his first League One goals of the season on Saturday, scoring twice to help Wednesday beat AFC Wimbledon 5-0 at Hillsborough.
Just moments after Barry Bannan had given Wednesday the lead, Keillor-Dunn capitalised on a loose touch by Wimbledon defender Andy Yiadom, racing clear before calmly slotting the ball home to double the Owls’ advantage. He then scored his second and Wednesday’s fifth goal of the afternoon in the closing stages.
The 28-year-old, who also provided the assist for Bannan’s opener, was recalled to the starting XI after playing an important role in Wednesday’s 2-2 draw with Huddersfield Town seven days earlier, having come off the bench.
Operating in the No.10 role position just behind lone striker Jamal Lowe, Keillor-Dunn frequently found himself in dangerous positions, with much of Wednesday’s attacking play going through the former Barnsley man.
“Yes, I like to think that's part and parcel of my job,” Keillor-Dunn told The Star when asked if he had been instructed to play as close to Lowe as possible. “You know, connecting the game once it goes up to the striker, you've got to be around them.
“You don’t want to just leave them isolated, so that’s a big part of my game: connecting play, being that middleman and being that extra pass where the midfielders can play into, allowing me to link up with the strikers.
“So, yes, I love being in there, taking the onus, getting on the turn and slipping the boys in, as well as getting shots off myself.”

Following Keillor-Dunn’s move to Barnsley from Mansfield Town in August 2024, the attacker, who is on loan at Hillsborough from Championship side Wrexham, admitted that he is most comfortable operating from the No.10 position.
Speaking just over two years ago, Keillor-Dunn told BBC Radio Sheffield: “I've played them all. I've played at the top of the diamond, attacking midfield last year, off two strikers.
“But I would probably say that my predominant position would be at No.10, so off a No.9, just getting the knockdowns, getting on the end of things, making runs in behind, working hard ultimately.
“I would probably say that, yes. An out-and-out No.10. I can play off either side as well.”
