Wynsors shoe shop to permanently close in Sheffield after takeover by company that bought WHSmith
Wynsors World of Shoes has permanently closed in Sheffield
A Sheffield branch of Wynsors World of Shoes has closed its doors for the last time.
Wynsors, on Infirmary Road, Sheffield, closed on Saturday, October 17, after the company was bought by Investment firm, Modella Capital, in November 2025.

Modella Capital is the same company that bought out WHSmith, now known as TJ Jones.
The Sheffield closure is just one of 17 stores closing across the UK.
According to Claire, 46, Assistant Manager at the Infirmary Road branch, staff found out about the news after they received a notification from their head office stating their shop was at risk, something that “came as a shock” to them all.
Claire was 21-years-old when she first started working at Wynsors, and now she is being made redundant 25 years later, along with her colleagues, and will have to search for work elsewhere.
On the last day of trading, she said: “No one was expecting it, it’s not great, many of us have worked here for many years, we’ve been here for a long time, all the staff are really great to work with so it’s going to be emotional.
“It’s like a family, we’re a close knit community.”
The store was open for its usual hours, from 10am to 5pm, before staff said goodbye to their “regulars” who they will “miss very much”.
