Former Sheffield Wednesday coach signs contract extension after league title success
Andy Parslow, the former Sheffield Wednesday set-piece coach, has signed a contract extension with Lech Poznań.
Former Sheffield Wednesday set piece coach Andy Parslow has extended his contract with Polish club Lech Poznań by a further two years after helping them win a second successive Ekstraklasa title.
Parslow terminated his contract with Wednesday last October amid the difficult financial position the club found itself in at the time. Former Owls chairman Dejphon Chansiri had failed to pay players and staff on time in five of the previous seven months, and it was at the end of October, of course, that the Thai businessman put the club into administration.
Parslow, who joined the Owls in 2024 after stints with the likes of AFC Wimbledon and Swansea City, revealed at the time of his departure that “it was a really difficult decision” and that “the tipping point was the uncertainty and not knowing when payment was likely to come”.
The former Owls set piece guru secured a route back into football in January, joining Lech Poznań, initially on a deal until the end of this season as an assistant coach. He is understood to have thoroughly enjoyed his time in Poland and he has now committed his future to the club by signing a two-year extension.
Lech Pozna sporting director Tomasz Rząsa, in a statement on their club website, said: "Coach Andy Parslow is staying with us. We are pleased with his work so far; he contributed to our tenth Polish championship.
“His responsibilities will remain the same. He will assist with daily coaching, including set pieces.”
Posting on his LinkedIn account, Parslow said: “Delighted to extend my contract as KKS Lech Poznań until 2028. Winning the league title this season was a great achievement and I can’t wait to compete for it again, along with the cups and European competition.
“Time to rest now over the off-season and then ready to go again.”
