Sheffield Wednesday confirm record-breaking season ticket sales as they close in on target figure

Sheffield Wednesday have sold almost 21,000 season tickets ahead of the 2026/27 Championship campaign.

Sheffield Wednesday have announced they have sold a record-breaking number of season tickets ahead of the 2026/27 League One campaign.

Season tickets went on sale at Hillsborough on May 15, and sales immediately went through the roof with Wednesdayites showing an outpouring of support for the club’s new ownership group, Arise Capital Partners.

Reduced prices across the board saw thousands of Wednesdayites quickly secure their seats at Hillsborough for next season and the start of the Arise era. Following such an impressive uptake in the first few days, new Owls chief executive David Bruce set a target of trying to reach 21,000 sales.

The Owls, shortly after 12pm on Thursday lunchtime, confirmed they are closing in on meeting Bruce’s target, revealing they have so far sold 20,908 season tickets, marking the highest number they have ever sold.

Considering Wednesday experienced the worst campaign in their entire history in 2025/26, winning just two Championship matches and were relegated by February, it is an astonishing effort from a group of supporters who are desperate to see the club find its feet again after the nightmare of Dejphon Chansiri’s reign.

Speaking last month, Bruce said: “I think we'd like to break a record, which I think is around 21,000. If we can get that and more than that in League One next year, I think we're going to stand a really good chance.

“We'd love to make this a cauldron. We know it's going to be hard, and we know we're going to have to win people over again, but we're determined to do that. Our actions over the summer, hopefully, will suggest to people that we are going to do things differently, and hopefully fans see that, and they want to invest in our future, and they want to come back to the stadium.

“We obviously did some things with prices because we didn't think the prices were appropriate, and we'll continue to listen, and we'll continue to talk to the fans to get all that right. But yeah, we'd love it if we could clear, you know, north of 21,000 that would be incredible.

“I think we were a little bit shocked by the response. To sell over 10,000 in 24 hours is incredible. I don't think there's many clubs in the country that would do that, and I think that it shows really that the fans feel like it's a new dawn. As we've talked a lot about early on, this really is a club reborn, and I think fans really want to join us on that journey.”
