Sheffield Wednesday-linked Jamie Vardy launches new podcast featuring ex-Football Focus host
Jamie Vardy has launched a new podcast offering fans further insight into an incredibly successful career
Sheffield Wednesday-linked footballer Jamie Vardy has launched a brand new football podcast, which has arrived just in time for the FIFA World Cup in North America.
The 39-year-old footballer, who scored seven times in 26 appearances for England while forming part of the team that reached the semi-final of the Russia-based World Cup in 2018, announced the news in a series of posts on social media.
The initial post shows a video of the striker, who is currently without a club after leaving Cremenose in Italy, putting together some decor for his podcast, including his Premier League winners medal, a photo of him celebrating a goal for Leicester City and his recording equipment when his wife Rebekah walks into the room.

She asks: “What on earth is this”, to which Vardy replies: “Content” before explaining that he has a new podcast called Jamie Vardy’s Having A Party.
In a follow up post, he offers a teaser of whats to come with the caption: “Big guests, jaw-dropping stories and dressing room chaos every week. Episode 1 of Jamie Vardy’s Having A Part coming Wednesday 10 June.”
The first episode which featured former Football Focus host Manish Bhasin began to delve into Vardy’s next step with the 39-year-old currently out of contract.
Vardy, who scored seven times in Serie A last season for Cremenose before tasting relegation, is currently without a club but is thought to be keen to prolong his career.
Our Owls reporter Alex Miller understands Wednesday are believed to have discussed an ambitious possible move for the player that was released from the Owls academy as a teenager in 2002 without playing a senior game.
However, with plenty still to be worked on behind the scenes following the takeover, it’s not thought that any concrete offer has been made at this stage.
In the first episode, Vardy, when discussing his next chapter, says: “I’m not going to give up playing just yet but it’s something more for later down the line.”
Later in the conversation, he adds that a move back to Leicester City, who join the Owls in League One, is not on the cards, despite his incredible successful tenure at the King Power Stadium.
He said: “Nah, that’s gone. I’ll always support them (Leicester) and follow them, that’s the best thing I can do now.”
Vardy’s decision to launch a podcast is the latest talking point in what has been a busy period for the footballer and his family.
Last month, the 2016 Premier League winner was the subject of a Netflix Untold Documentary, which reflected back on his journey from Stocksbridge Park Steels in the non-league to playing for England and establishing himself as a top-flight star.
Similarly, the striker also starred in a reality-TV series known simply as ‘The Vardy’s’ which documents the experienced footballer’s transition from English football to a new life out in Italy - as well as his wife’s experiences after the Wagatha Christy trial and her family’s journey adapting to a new adventure in the Lombardy region.
For now speculation over Vardy making a romantic return to Hillsborough continues to surface in the background, something which columnist Alan Biggs only sees a positive sign of what could potentially be possible under the ownership of the Arise group as fans start to dream again after a challenging period for the club both on and off the field.
