In-form Sheffield Wednesday defender Dominic Iorfa played it cool when asked about his Sheffield Wednesday future as his contract continues to dwindle down to the end of the season.

Iorfa penned a new deal with the club in August last year, with new deals also going to Josh Windass and Liam Palmer at similar times.

That agreement is set to come to an end in the summer alongside those of a number of other first team players, with Darren Moore having said last month that Fisayo Dele-Bashiru was the only senior Owls figure the club were in negotiations with at current.

Asked how he sees his future, the 27-year-old said: “I haven’t really thought about it. I’m focused on getting back to my best and playing football. I’m back in the side now and I’ve had a run of games so my focus is on staying in the team, giving my best.

“When that situation comes we will sit down and talk about it but right now it’s not a discussion that has taken place.”

Wednesday have tended to include extension clauses on some player contracts in recent years.

It is understood potential clauses exist on the deals of Windass and George Byers but asked of anything on his contract, Iorfa kept his cards close to his chest.

“I’m not sure to be fair,” he said. “We really haven’t discussed it in the slightest, it’s something we will talk about but for now there’s nothing at all.

“I’ve been here a while now and I’m one of the longest-serving players which is crazy. I’m happy here and I’m enjoying my football. I haven’t thought about it at all to be honest.”

It’s been a difficult couple of years for Iorfa, who was the proud recipient of the 2019/20 Owls player of the year award and was linked with interest from a host of Championship clubs before suffering two serious injuries that have set back his progress.

In and out of the side this season since the additions of Ben Heneghan, Michael Ihiekwe and others, Iorfa has played 15 times for Wednesday in all competitions this season but has enjoyed a return to some of his best form in recent outings.
