The Owls take on former Wednesday man, David Stockdale, and his fellow Minstermen on Saturday afternoon, with the game getting underway at 1.30pm at the LNER Community Stadium in York.

Fans will get an opportunity to see new manager, Xisco Munoz, in the flesh as he takes charge of his first game since coming on board at Hillsborough, but there may well be a handful of familiar faces missing from the side when they run out on the grass tomorrow afternoon.

When asked whether he would have players missing for the tie, Munoz explained that he would be calling on some of the club’s younger players out of necessity, but he wouldn’t go into any detail about who was out or how long it would be for.

"Yes,” he replied when asked if he had injury concerns. “But I need to speak to the doctor and I don’t like to give that information. Not to the media, but to other teams. If I say players will be out for six weeks, five weeks, other clubs will know that information without giving us anything - but we have injuries…

"It’s a preparation game. We will need U21 and U23 players, and they can only play for 45 minutes after working for five days… The maximum time they will play is for 45 and in the second half some of the second team players will play.”

Several young Owls have been training with the first team since the start of preseason, and they’ll be hoping to show the new manager that they deserve a chance to step up.
