Reece James reacts to Sheffield Wednesday loan confirmation news – reiterates promotion target

It was confirmed on Monday after the Boxing Day win over Fleetwood Town that James’ loan spell at Hillsborough would continue into 2023, and he admits that he was always hoping that that would be the case.
There had been concerns that he may be recalled by his parent club, Blackpool, but now he says he can focus on trying to get the Owls promoted back into the Championship.

Hide AdSpeaking to the club, the versatile defender said, “I’m delighted to be here for the rest of the season, it’s what I wanted to do… I came on loan for the season, and I was always hoping that that’s the way it would be.
“I can just concentrate now knowing exactly what the end game is - and that’s to be here until the end and try and do as well as I can and get promotion for the club.
“It’s gone really well. It didn’t start too great with the sending off, but I’ve tried to do what I can to put that right. Hopefully I’ve done that.
“I came here to try and gain promotion with Sheffield Wednesday, and hopefully I can do that.”
