The Owls won out through a Barry Bannan penalty and in doing so kept their fourth clean sheet in a row – winning their fourth straight game for the first time since April 2017.
It feels as though something may well be building towards something – considering their injury malaise, it’s impressive stuff.
Here are our ratings as they won out the battle of the Roses.

9. Massimo Luongo - 7
Not the stand-out-head-and-shoulders dominant performance we've come to expect in the first half, but solid and assured and grew back towards that high bar in the second. Passed it well and snaked his way through into the Latics box to earn the penalty. Photo: Steve Ellis

10. Barry Bannan - 8
Started a number of attacks and shot himself on occasion. Picked up a yellow card in the 21st minute for ending a Shinnie run and *ahem* walked the rope expertly. Grew into the game after a slow first half. Played in a couple of handy through-balls and slotted the penalty away with no fuss - came alive in the second half and ran things. Photo: Steve Ellis

11. Callum Paterson - 6
Served as the primary target whenever Wednesday looked to go long and put in a monstrous shift, but nothing quite seemed to run for him. Did some important dirty work, produced some excellent housery and was a general nuisance in the second half. And my word if that long-range effort had gone in.. Photo: Steve Ellis

12. Florian Kamberi - 5
Had one. It happens. No lack of effort - he worked his legs off - but his touch was off-pace. Started the move to win the pen but largely looks short of confidence since his return from injury. Photo: Steve Ellis
