The Stags have just one win in their last six league matches but defeated Barrow in the last round to set up a tie against the side their manager Nigel Clough has described as the biggest club in the draw.

And they’ll be cheered on by a strong showing in the Leppings Lane End of the ground, with over 3,800 tickets sold to Mansfield supporters as of Wednesday lunchtime.

With a final figure of around 4,000 forecast at the Mansfield end, it looks highly likely both tiers of the stand will be open.

Mansfield’s average home attendance was 5,041 last season and though that number has risen to exponentially to 6,552 this season, it represents a remarkable away following for the fourth tier outfit.

Wednesday have been roundly praised on social media for their pricing of the clash, which allows both home and away supporters to gain entry at £10 for just adults and £5 concessions.

Mansfield may well have the taste for League One blood fresh in their memory after claiming the scalps of Sunderland and Doncaster Rovers in the first and second rounds of the FA Cup last season, before Championship Middlesbrough knocked them out 3-2 in injury time in the third round.

The Stags also beat Sunderland in the first round in the 2020/21 season.

Wednesday and Mansfield last met in last season’s Papa Johns Trophy – the Owls running out 2-1 winners.
