Sheffield Wednesday were held to a goalless draw by League Two Accrington Stanley in their first friendly of the day.
The Owls travelled to The Wham Stadium on Saturday lunchtime before taking on Oldham Athletic at 4pm.
In game of few chances, new Wednesday stopper, Connal Trueman, saved comfortably from Isaac Sinclair and Alex Henderson. The visitors put a couple of slick moves together in the first-half but clear-cut chances were hard to come by.
Here are our player ratings from the game...
5. Reece James 7
Yes, he is back. The left-back has been training with the Owls this week and was given a chance to show what he can do. And it was like he had never been away. Did himself no harm at all of earning a deal, if that is the aim.
6. Jarvis Thornton 6
Energetic display, put himself about, lots of enthusiasm. Wore the armband in the second-half. | Getty Images
7. Denny Oliver 7
The academy product was neat and tidy in the middle of the park. Like Weaver, he is another youngster who has a good stature about him. Caught the eye at times. | Submitted
8. Charlie McNeill 5
Played on the right wing. Struggled to make his mark but kept plugging away. | Steve Ellis.
