Sheffield Wednesday were held to a goalless draw by League Two Accrington Stanley in their first friendly of the day.
The Owls travelled to The Wham Stadium on Saturday lunchtime before taking on Oldham Athletic at 4pm.
In game of few chances, new Wednesday stopper, Connal Trueman, saved comfortably from Isaac Sinclair and Alex Henderson. The visitors put a couple of slick moves together in the first-half but clear-cut chances were hard to come by.
Here are our player ratings from the game...
1. Connal Trueman 6
In from the start for his non-competitive debut after signing on Thursday. One save from Sinclair was comfortable. Tipped over a late free-kick from Henderson and punched the resulting corner away.
2. Yan Valery 7
From the World Cup to the Wham Stadium. Breezed through this on with ease. A class act. If Wednesday can keep hold of him then what a boost that would be. Replaced at the break.
3. Ernie Weaver 7
Great to see him back after his long-term injury. The youngster has a fantastic stature about him and he was cool and calm here, making one good block. | Steve Ellis.
4. Liam Cooper 7
His first minutes of pre-season after re-signing. His partnership with Weaver had a nice balance and has potential. Strong in the air. Off at the break. | Getty Images
