Josh Windass to West Bromwich Albion? – His dad has commented on talks of a Sheffield Wednesday exit

With the January transfer window open, there’s been plenty of talk of ins and outs and Sheffield Wednesday – one name linked with an exit is striker, Josh Windass.

The forward, who has played a key role for the Owls so far this season, was reportedly a target for Premier League outfit, West Bromwich Albion, however The Star was led to believe that it was nothing more than speculation at that stage.

Windass is currently recovering from an injury that saw him miss the trip to Exeter City and could rule him out of this weekend’s game against Coventry City, but it certainly looks as though he’ll still be at Hillsborough by the time the window slams shut.

That’s according to his dad, Dean Windass, who says that it’s all ‘just speculation’.

He told The Transfer Tavern, “When I was playing football, and you heard a lot of paper talk - until you sign on the dotted line, and it’s set in stone, you know, it’s all just speculation.

“Josh has obviously read it. People have been tweeting me about it, you know, but I’m just as in the dark as anyone else really. I read what you’re reading, and until Josh rings me up and says, ‘I’m on my way to the Hawthorns’, then that’s when it’s set in stone, but just speculation really.”

Windass is a long shot for this weekend’s Coventry clash, but could well be back available and in contention for the home game against Wycombe Wanderers.
