Dele-Bashiru is a central midfielder that can play as a number six or number eight, but his preferred role is that as an attacking box-to-box midfielder, which is probably how he ended up being likened to City legend, Yaya Touré.

He’s always looking to get forward, and likes a shot on goal as well. He’s worn the number 8 and 10 shirts over the last season at City, but it remains to be seen what he’ll be given when he makes his SWFC bow.

Call him ‘Fizz’

His full name is Oluwafisayo Dele-Bashiru, but for fans looking for an early nickname for the talented teen, he’s called ‘Fizz’ for short… Wednesdayites will be no doubt be hoping that he can show some fizz on the field when he gets chance to show them what he’s capable of.

He’s got pedigree

Having joined City’s academy at the age of 8, Dele-Bashiru has several years to top tier youth football under his belt, and has come through the ranks alongside the likes of Jadon Sancho, Phil Foden and Eric Garcia, as well as his brother, Tom, who is now with Watford.

After more than a decade with the Cityzens, leaving them to join SWFC can’t have been an easy decision, but his eagerness to step up a level is certainly something that should excite the Wednesday faithful.

Nigeria or England?

‘Fizz’ has already been part of the Nigeria U20 setup, and is said to be being monitored by the English FA also, with the youngster eligible for both nations due to his Nigerian parents and the fact that he was raised in England.
