Hull City defender sends 'no easy games' warning ahead of Sheffield Wednesday clash
Experienced Hull City defender, Semi Ajayi, has warned that his side cannot underestimate Sheffield Wednesday just because of their league position.
The Owls will travel to Hull this weekend for their latest Championship outing, backed by a sold-out away end that continue to support their side despite relegation to League One already being confirmed.
Henrik Pedersen’s men are winless since September and sit bottom of the table with -6 points, but Ajayi doesn’t think they should be taken lightly as they make the trip to MKM Stadium. Wednesday picked up a 2-2 draw the last time these two teams met back in December, and could be a potential banana skin in Hull’s attempts to secure a play-off spot.
"One hundred per cent there are no easy games in the Champ," the centre back told Hull Live. "We have to be on it. We can't drop our levels just because of where they are in the table, because if you do that in this league, you'll get punished.
"We have to be at the top of our game. We'll make sure we are. I'm expecting a tough game from them. We'll be on it, and we'll be ready, we'll be ready for what they have to bring... We're just taking it one game at a time. Our full focus is on Sheffield Wednesday and making sure we put things right and being at our maximum come Saturday."
The Sheffielders have won their last two trips to Hull, one in the league and one in the Carabao Cup, but are heavy underdogs this time around as one of the worst club campaigns in English Football League history draws to a close.
