Darren Moore says he’s really pleased with how his side have developed a ‘doggedness’ that is benefitting them in their promotion campaign.

The Owls had to work hard for three points over the weekend as they saw off Accrington Stanley in League One, picking up their sixth win on the road of the season – a tally that is now just two wins short of their entire 2021/22 campaign.

Wednesday are picking up results in games where they may well have drawn or lost last season, and their manager admits that it’s something that they’ve worked extremely hard on to try and cut out the mistakes.

Speaking after the win over Accrington, Moore told the media, “It's certainly been an area and part of our game that we have worked on… Keeping that compactness to us, that resilience, that doggedness, that work rate - and the jobs that people have got to do individually and collectively as a group.

"As well as that, you look at the recruitment in the summer as well. You look at the different type of personnel, and how we identified areas that last season we came up a little bit short in. We had to make sure that we corrected those this season, so that helps as well.

"There's been a together approach, everyone together again.”

Wednesday are already eight points ahead of where they were at the 18-game mark last season, and have picked up nine clean sheets by mid-November – an amount that it took them 27 matches to achieve last time out.
