The popular midfielder hasn’t played for the Owls since coming on in the 5-0 win over Forest Green back in August, but could be back again before the year is out.

Adeniran had to undergo a procedure on his knee earlier in the year after sustaining an injury in Owls colours, and is now in the latter stages of his recovery as he looks to get back out on the grass with his teammates at Middlewood Road.

Wednesday seem to have got a better handle on the injury situation this season as we approach the end of 2022, with Akin Famewo almost back in contention and only Adeniran and Ben Heneghan still sidelined with long-term injuries.

Heneghan will, unfortunately, play no further part in the 2022/23 campaign after a bad knee injury, but as things stand there is a chance that Wednesday head into the busy festive period with an almost clean bill of health.

Speaking to The Star last week, Moore said, “Dennis is working his way back, and we think he’s weeks away now from joining back in with the group.

“We know about Ben… He’s still waiting for his swelling to reduce before we can operate on him, which is the protocol for the injury that he’s got.

“Akin is back in with the group, so we’re really pleased about that. It’s great to have him back rubbing shoulders. Over the next few weeks he’ll tidy up his work, his foot work, and his conditioning/timing.”

Meanwhile, Liam Palmer, George Byers and Mallik Wilks could all potentially return to action this weekend against Shrewsbury Town, however they will all be assess in the coming days before a decision is made on them.

Wednesday face the Shrews at 3pm on Saturday, with the Owls fully aware that a win could potentially take them up into the top two.

Moore’s side are currently just one point behind second-placed Ipswich Town, and five adrift of League One leaders, Plymouth Argyle.
