The Owlesses are undergoing a big renovation this season after chairman, Dave Higgins decided to step down from his role as head coach and appoint Paul Musacchio and a whole new technical team.

Shortly after Musacchio’s arrival it was confirmed that SWLFC had tempted goalkeeper, Megan Parkin, and attacker, Ella Bright, over from Sheffield FC, with the club setting a target of consolidating their position in the North East Women's Regional Football League Premier Division following their recent promotion.

Now, on the back of 19-year-old Parkin and Bright (the younger cousin of England and Chelsea’s Millie Bright) signing, it’s been confirmed to The Star that they’ve also snapped up 20-year-old forward Amy Broomhead from Chester FC.

Broomhead, formerly of Huddersfield Town, has joined Musacchio’s ranks as they bid for goals in the new campaign, and with her pace and eye for goal she’ll be keen to hit the ground running.

Speaking after joining the club, she said, “Having spent seven seasons at Huddersfield Town, and then playing for Chester FC for three seasons whilst being at Uni, I’m excited to start the next chapter at Sheffield Wednesday… I’m looking forward to the season ahead with the club.”

Wednesday Ladies will get their preseason underway on Sunday as Musacchio gets to work with his new players in the build-up to what could prove to be an exciting 2021/22 campaign at the club.
