Wednesday confirmed last month that the 19-year-old was one player that they were keen to keep hold of as plans for the 2021/22 campaign developed, saying that he had been offered a deal to extend his stay at the club.

Talks have been ongoing since then, with a number of clubs believed to have shown an interest in potentially signing the speedy attacker, including the likes of Brentford, Crystal Palace and Leicester City to name but a few.

Despite interest elsewhere though, The Star has previously stated that Wednesday remained in pole position as the former Chelsea youngster sought to work under Darren Moore and get more senior games under his belt, and now it looks as though they’ve got the job done.

The Star understands that a deal has now been agreed in principle that will keep Hagan at Middlewood Road for next season, and it’s thought that he’ll be hoping to step up into the first team setup following positive talks with the manager.

While there are some aspects to be finalised, Hagan is expected to travel with Wednesday to Wales for their preseason camp and friendly against Celtic, and he’ll be hoping to carry on his impressive end to 2020/21 with the U23s as he looks to show Moore exactly what he’s capable of.

Josh Render and Josh Dawodu have also been offered new deals.
