Why part of Bramall Lane will be closed this season as Sheffield United provide Dore training ground update
Work and upgrades have taken place at Sheffield United’s new training ground at Dore, Sheffield United have confirmed, as part of a summer of improvements at Bramall Lane and beyond. The Blades are preparing for the start of the new season next month.
And over the summer a range of upgrades and maintenance has taken place, with Bramall Lane set to welcome Blades fans for Monday’s open training session on their home turf.
United begin the Championship season at home to Birmingham City on August 15 and Unitedites returning to Bramall Lane this summer will notice a full refurbishment of the club shop, in conjunction with Fanatics.
Renovation work has seen the roof of the family corner, Kop and Bramall Lane end strengthening and repainting, with work still ongoing on the away end. As a result, tickets will not be available in the upper tier for a number of fixtures.
The club say that season ticket holders in the adjacent corner will be unaffected while toilets in the south stand and Bramall Lane upper tier have been refurbished.
Stephen Bettis, United’s chief executive, said: "The summer months are an opportunity for our off-field team to smarten up our magnificent stadium. Last year we undertook some major projects and this year we have again opted to invest in our infrastructure.
“Similarly with last year, I feel this is another example of the board's commitment to making improvements at the football club."
