Some of the players who turned out for the Blades that day have gone onto management and personal training, while one tours clubs speaking about his drugs past and another is available to hire via a ‘talent booking’ website.
Here’s what happened to the Blades’ class of 2001 from that game...
9. Patrick Suffo
A winner at the 2002 African Cup of Nations, Suffo's United career effectively ended when he headbutted Derek McInnes during the infamous Battle of Bramall Lane game. He later played for clubs in Saudi Arabia, Israel and Norway before returning to England. He was last seen playing for Coventry United in Midland Football League Division Two, later becoming player/assistant manager Photo: DEAN ATKINS
10. Laurent D'Jaffo
A French-born striker who later represented Benin at international level, D'Jaffo scored in a Sheffield derby win at Hillsborough and played for Aberdeen and Mansfield after leaving United. He later became a scout and recommended a young Didier Drogba to Neil Warnock. His club wanted £100,000, the move didn't happen and Drogba later moved to Chelsea for £24m Photo: DEAN ATKINS
11. Peter Ndlovu
The pacey Ndlovu enjoyed a fruitful time at United, where he was affectionately known as 'Nuddy'. He was part of the Blades squad led by Neil Warnock which progressed to the semi-finals of the FA and League cups in 2002/03 as well as the Championship play-off final later that season. 12. Subs: Wilko de Vogt
A Dutch goalkeeper that Warnock described as a defender in his autobiography, De Vogt made only a handful of appearances for the Blades but returned to Bramall Lane last season to watch his old side face Manchester City Photo: Dennis Lound (Staff)
