Some of the players who turned out for the Blades that day have gone onto management and personal training, while one tours clubs speaking about his drugs past and another is available to hire via a ‘talent booking’ website.
Here’s what happened to the Blades’ class of 2001 from that game...
5. Robert Page
Another former Blade to move into management after his career ended. Page wore the captain's armband after signing from Watford, and led United to the play-off final and two semi-finals in 2002/03. 6. Shane Nicholson
The left-back spent one season as a Blades player before moving to Tranmere. After a spell as Chesterfield's fitness coach, he moved to Derby and became an analyst. He also visited clubs to speak about his experiences with drugs as part of the Sporting Chances campaign Photo: DEAN ATKINS
7. Michael Brown
Something of a modern-day Blades legend after his remarkable 22 goals from midfield propelled the Blades to the brink of the Premier League. Got his own top flight move to Spurs and had a short spell as Port Vale manager, before moving into punditry Photo: Dean Atkins
8. Michael Tonge
Tonge came through United's academy to some fanfare, and made his Premier League debut against Liverpool - a club he had previously been linked with. He scored two goals against the Reds in a League Cup semi-final before leaving to join Stoke in 2008 Photo: Gareth Copley
