Hamza Choudhury’s controversial red card means he is suspended for the trip to Ashton Gate, while Matt Doherty has been ruled out after requiring an injection in his knee.
Femi Seriki is closing in on a return but was not expected to feature and Jamie Shackleton, another potential option, is also out after suffering another setback, leaving Wilder with a right-back headache.
There could be further changes, too, as United round off a three-game week and after the effort of playing with 10 men for so long against Portsmouth.
So who makes our predicted Sheffield United starting XI for the trip to Bristol City? Take a look through the gallery to see our selection - have we got it just about right or would you do anything differently?

9. Harrison Burrows
A change on the left flank with Burrows coming back in. That's assuming he's in a position to start fitness-wise, but McCallum is coming back from his own injury issue and three games in a week may be a lot to ask. If not, there's always Norrington-Davies as another option but Burrows at wing-back could make a big difference | Danny Lawson/PA Wire

10. Patrick Bamford
Withdrawn at the break on Wednesday and so should be okay to go again, providing the whack he took early in the game didn't prove too serious. Offers a goal threat but also a link-up option which could be big

11. Ryan One
A wildcard selection maybe but Cannon put in a real shift at Pompey, Campbell hasn't done much in his cameos to demand a start and One was left out altogether, perhaps with a view to an increased role in this one? He has good memories of Ashton Gate, scoring his only senior Blades goal so far on that ground, and will certainly offer a stretch option | Sportimage
