Hamza Choudhury’s controversial red card means he is suspended for the trip to Ashton Gate, while Matt Doherty has been ruled out after requiring an injection in his knee.
Femi Seriki is closing in on a return but was not expected to feature and Jamie Shackleton, another potential option, is also out after suffering another setback, leaving Wilder with a right-back headache.
There could be further changes, too, as United round off a three-game week and after the effort of playing with 10 men for so long against Portsmouth.
So who makes our predicted Sheffield United starting XI for the trip to Bristol City? Take a look through the gallery to see our selection - have we got it just about right or would you do anything differently?

1. Michael Cooper
The most obvious pick in the side, with the United No.1 keeping his side in the game on Wednesday with two fine saves and left with little to no chance of keeping out any of Pompey's three goals. He must wonder why such worldies keep getting scored against him, though | Jason Brown

2. Japhet Tanganga
The skipper starts on the right of a back three in my side, having got on the scoresheet on Wednesday night with a fine finish. He's so good in the air that you wonder why he doesn't chip in with more goals and hopefully that's the start of a decent season on that front for him | Getty Images

3. Mark McGuinness
He fell out of favour following Kitching's arrival but looks more comfortable in the middle of a back three with two more mobile players either side of him, so he can just concentrate on the simple work of heading and kicking it | Sportimage

4. Liam Kitching
I've been impressed with him since he came in - tenacious in the tackle but also very good on the ball, as he showed with an excellent pass to Cannon at Pompey that should have led to more with a better touch. Can get forward in this shape, too | Getty Images
