Sky Sports pundit makes Sheffield United vs Wrexham prediction ahead of Championship clash
Sheffield United will be eyeing a return to winning ways when they host Wrexham at Bramall Lane on Friday night.
Sky Sports pundit Andy Hinchcliffe is anticipating a goal-filled contest when Sheffield United and Wrexham go head-to-head at Bramall Lane on Friday evening, predicting a 2-2 draw.
Following last Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Derby County, the Blades will be hoping to return to winning ways and secure their third home win of the campaign.
After Bobby Clark had given the Rams a first-half lead, United hit back after the break when Patrick Bamford equalised. The Blades turned the screw in the closing stages, creating a host of chances, but were unable to find a way past Derby goalkeeper Jacob Widell Zetterström for a second time.
Meanwhile, Wrexham will also be looking to return to winning ways after suffering a 2-0 defeat to Blackburn Rovers at Ewood Park last time out. The Red Dragons have experienced an indifferent start to the season, having won three, drawn five and lost four of their first 12 Championship matches.
They will arrive at S2 without a win in their last four away games, meaning the Blades will be hoping to take advantage of their struggles on the road and move to within one point of the play-off places ahead of Saturday’s fixtures.
United and Wrexham have conceded 33 Championship goals between them so far this season. As a result, Hinchcliffe, who regularly works as a co-commentator on Championship matches for Sky Sports, is predicting a high-scoring draw.
“I’m going to go for goals,” Hinchcliffe told The Essential EFL Podcast. “I’m going to go for a two all draw.
“I think the way the teams play, defensively neither of them are absolutely brilliant. I can’t see it being a really tight game. I think two all looks a bit glamorous.”
Seven of United’s first 12 Championship matches this season have seen both teams find the net, while both sides have scored in eight of Wrexham’s first 12 outings. The Blades have kept just two clean sheets at home in 2026.
The last five meetings between the Blades and Wrexham have produced 27 goals.
