Norwich City boss Philippe Clement makes Andre Brooks prediction following Sheffield United exit

Andre Brooks left Sheffield United to join Norwich City in a big-money deal earlier this summer.

Norwich City head coach Philippe Clement is backing Andre Brooks to be a big hit at Carrow Road following his recent move from Sheffield United, outlining what strengths he has added to his squad.

The winger swapped South Yorkshire for Norfolk last month in a deal that could eventually net the Blades more than £10million including add-ons. United supporters were perplexed by the move given Brooks has strengthened a direct Championship rival.

The Blades academy graduate, 22, went up through the gears last season, scoring six goals and registering three assists in 39 Championship appearances. He has, of course, bolstered the Canaries’ right wing options, while United have reacted to his exit by signing Brentford winger Romelle Donovan on a season-long loan deal.

Brooks made his first appearance for his new club on Friday evening, helping the Canaries beat Swiss side FC St. Gallen 3-0 at Kybunpark. He completed the opening 45 minutes, producing an eye-catching first showing for his new club.

“[It was] very important to get some minutes into him and also to feel directly involved,” Clement told the Canaries’ club website. “He played well and he showed what we expected also, that's why the club made a huge investment to get him.

“The way we want to play suits his playing style and playing like this will make his adaptation even faster in the team because everybody likes to play with him because he's always available on the ball.

“He has power, he has speed, and he can give assists, he can score goals. So he's going to become a very important player for us.”

Norwich are scheduled to face the Blades as early as September 5, meaning Brooks will make what is expected to be an emotional return to Bramall Lane just five games into the new Championship campaign.
