Sheffield United midfielder Hamza Choudhury assesses Blades' play-off hopes ahead of Wrexham clash
Hamza Choudhury has praised his manager Chris Wilder ahead of Championship clash against Wrexham
Sheffield United midfielder Hamza Choudhury has said that he’s confident the Blades can make the play-offs ahead of the Wrexham clash.
The Bangladesh international was in attendance at a London charity event on October 25 organised by Nujum Sports that raised almost £90,000 for the Children not Numbers charity.
He auctioned off his FA Cup final-winning shirt that he wore when he lifted the trophy of the oldest football competition in the world. It is not known how much was paid for the shirt.
Choudhury has made eight appearances so far this season, all from right back after both Femi Seriki and Matt Doherty have been injured for most of the season, leaving Blades boss Chris Wilder with his hands tied.
United face Wrexham on Friday night, which will see familiar faces in Callum O’Hare and Kieffer Moore return to Bramall Lane.
Ahead of the Championship clash, Choudhury told Sky Sports: “It’s a big game.”
“They're a club that is trying to move forward in the right direction. I'm really looking forward to it,” he added.
The Reds narrowly missed out on a play-off spot last season, after finishing seventh.
The play-offs have now been extended to six teams, meaning that the teams that finish seventh and eighth this year will secure an opportunity to play Premier League football the following campaign.
United currently sit 12th in the Championship, four points adrift of the top eight.
“But there's a lot more to come from us. We're still a team that is sort of getting itself together. But we can definitely finish in the top eight.”
Choudhury was full of praise for his manager, highlighting his love for the Blades.
“He’s really good,” Choudhury said. “I really enjoy working for him and playing under him.
“He's very passionate about the club. It's his club, and he obviously wants to push us in the right direction.”
With Femi Seriki returning to the side in United’s draw against Derby County at Bramall Lane last week, it’s unclear whether the former Leicester man will retain his position in the starting lineup.
