Harrison Burrows opens up on Sheffield United return and 'buzzing' team mate Sydie Peck
Harrison Burrows admits he’s buzzing to be back on the pitch after two month hiatus
Sheffield United defender Harrison Burrows admits he’s “in a good place” after his return to the Blades side coincided with an upturn in form for the team.
Burrows’ start to the season was delayed by a quad injury which originally flared up in pre-season, and had kept him out since August 22’s draw with Swansea City.
Sam McCallum had been holding down the left-back position whilst his left-back rival had been recovering, before Burrows made his much-anticipated return in the victory at Bristol City last month.
Rather than being eased in gently, though, Burrows played 90 minutes in that game and has done so in the three since, offering United a real attacking threat down the left wing and reminding Unitedites of his undoubted qualities.
His partnership with Romelle Donovan has offered another dimension to United’s play going forward, after the Brentford loanee was shifted to the left as part of a recent tactical shake-up. On Tuesday night at Preston North End, the two combined beautifully for Sydie Peck’s third goal as the Blades recorded back-to-back wins for the first time all season.
And, speaking ahead of United’s trip to The Valley this weekend to face struggling Charlton Athletic, Burrows said: “For me, my body's feeling in a good place, feeling fit. So, yeah, like I said, just taking each game, game as it comes, and hopefully build up some points.”
When asked what Sydie Peck’s mood had been like since his first half hat-trick at Deepdale, Burrows replied: “Oh, yeah, he's obviously buzzing. Everyone's buzzing for him. He's a confident lad anyway. So, yeah, he's really happy.”
The England under 21 international is now second on the goal-scoring charts for the Blades after his treble mid-week, and is now just two behind leader Patrick Bamford, who’s scored six in all competitions.
Peck has now scored nine goals for United at senior level - one fewer than Burrows’ haul of 10 - and his quality in front of goal came as no surprise to those who witness it day in, day out at Shirecliffe.
“I think you see it every day in training,” Burrows admitted. “He's got a knack for goals, so he's always wanting to score goals.
“You can probably see that when you watch his game. So we’re all really happy for him.”
