Harry Kane becomes the eighth Ballon d’Or winner to grace the Bramall Lane pitch during their career
Sheffield United defender Matt Doherty was seen partying with former Spurs teammate Harry Kane on Monday night after the England captain’s Ballon d’Or win.
Kane was named the 2026 Ballon d’Or winner in London after scoring 73 goals and providing 8 assists in 65 games across the 2025/26 season.
The Bayern Munich striker beat Real Madrid star Kylian Mbappe and teenage sensation Lamine Yamal to football’s most prestigious individual award.
Kane became the first English player to win the prize in 25 years, and has extended the list of English Ballon d’Or winners to five.
The 33-year-old joins Stanley Matthews, Bobby Charlton, Kevin Keegan and Michael Owen as the only Englishmen to lift the trophy.
After the ceremony, which was held in the London Palladium, Kane enjoyed an after-party with family and friends, one of whom was Blades defender Matt Doherty.

Despite the pair being an unlikely duo, they have enjoyed a close friendship with Eric Dier, who also played at Tottenham Hotspur during the same time.
Doherty and Kane were Spurs teammates between August 2020 and January 2023, before the Irishman moved to Atlético Madrid after his contract with Tottenham was mutually terminated.
