Former Sheffield United defender Jayden Bogle opens up about Bramall Lane exit
Jayden Bogle admits he wanted to leave Bramall Lane as soon as he heard Leeds were interested
Ex-Blade Jayden Bogle has opened up about his decision to leave Sheffield United for Leeds United in 2024.

Bogle joined United from Derby County in September 2020 on a double swoop that also saw fellow full-back Max Lowe join Bramall Lane in a deal around £7 million.
The now Leeds defender scored on his Premier League debut for the Blades in a 1–1 draw against Brighton in December 2020. He made 16 league appearances during his first season, scoring twice.
The 26-year-old was instrumental in United’s promotion back to the top flight in the 2022/23 season, and played 34 times in his final year before making the switch to Elland Road.
Speaking on the official Leeds United podcast, he said: “As soon as I heard Leeds were interested, that was it for me. I just think speaking to family and friends, I knew Leeds was a big club but I didn’t realise how big and how big the fan-base is and where this club belongs, which is in the Premier League.
“I’d seen the football they’d played over the years, and I just thought, ‘yeah, this feels right’.
“The boys were flying out to Germany the day after I signed or something. Obviously I knew Eth (Ethan Ampadu) already; straight away he made me feel comfortable.
“I got there, I think they were doing a gym session, and straight away as soon as I walked over, he was like ‘that’s a fine for being late’. Just immediately made me feel comfortable.
“The team at the time was a fantastic squad, a young squad as well, which made it easier to fit straight in.”
Since joining Leeds, the right-back has made 93 appearances, scoring 9 goals along the way, and is now a regular starter in the Premier League under Daniel Farke.
He’s started every PL game so far this season, completing 90 minutes three times.
At the time of his departure, Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder told The Star: “I don't think we should have sold him, if I'm being perfectly honest. But that decision was not my decision.
“Jayden was one of our best players last season, without a doubt. And I'd have liked to have built around him.”
