Sheffield United confirmed team news v Preston North End

Chris Wilder has made the decision to start goalkeeper Adam Davies over Ivo Grbic as Sheffield United kick off their Championship season away at Preston North End tonight. The Croatian has missed United’s last two pre-season friendlies and is on the bench at Deepdale.

Elsewhere there are competitive debuts for new signings Alfie Gilchrist, Harrison Burrows, Callum O’Hare and Kieffer Moore, while Harry Souttar is on the bench after arriving at Bramall Lane earlier this week.

Forgotten man Ismaila Coulibaly is on the bench for United alongside a host of youngsters, with boss Wilder keen to add more strength in depth ahead of the closure of the transfer window later this month.

Blades: Davies, Gilchrist, Ahmedhodzic, Robinson, Burrows, Souza, Arblaster, Brooks, O’Hare, Hamer, Moore. Subs: Grbic, Trusty, Souttar, Brewster, Slimane, Coulibaly, Marsh, Seriki, Peck.
