Sheffield United and Blackpool have been hit with fines after the post-match brawl which marred an entertaining 3-3 draw between the two sides at Bramall Lane earlier this month.

After the stalemate, which saw Blackpool reduced to nine men during the game after two red cards, Wes Foderingham and Shayne Lavery were both sent off after the final whistle after grappling with each other during a post-match melee.

Both players saw their subsequent three-match bans upheld after appeals were rejected, and both clubs were subsequently charged by the FA. And the punishments have been revealed, with Blackpool ordered to pay a £25,000 fine and United hit with a £12,500 fine.

Both Blackpool and the Blades were accused of failing to control their players after the game had ended. According to an FA spokesperson, both clubs admitted they "failed to ensure their players conducted themselves in an orderly fashion and refrained from provocative behaviour.”

According to our sister title the Blackpool Gazette, Blackpool’s punishment is harsher because this is the second time they’ve been charged by the FA this season, having been fined £10,000 for a similar offence against Burnley back in August.
