Weather for Tramlines weekend in Sheffield as heatwave continues but some rain is forecast
Friday is looking glorious, Saturday spotty, and Sunday... bring a poncho
The chances of Tramlines 2026 being on the receiving end of the first rain in Sheffield for weeks are looking more and more likely.
A prediction by the Met Office earlier this week for rain across large parts of South Yorkshire and England looks more certain just hours before the first acts go on stage (July 24).

Although revellers can look forward to a dry and sunny Friday and a sprinkling on Saturday, bouts of medium-to-light rain are looking likely for day three on Sunday.
However, it’s very, very unlikely to be on the same scale as Tramlines 2023, when famously the heavy crowds and a large downpour churned Hillsborough Park into a mud bath.
Tramlines, a three-day long music festival, returns to Hillsborough Park from today until Sunday.
Headliners include Fatboy Slim, Kaiser Chiefs and Vanessa Carlton on Friday, with Courteeners and Rick Astley on Saturday and the likes of Wolf Alice and Wet Leg on Sunday.
Forecast for Tramlines Festival 2026 in Sheffield
Friday, July 24: Sunny. Tramlines will get off to a flying start this evening with fine, sunny skies and highs of 24C and no chance of rain. Temperatures will hover around 20C in the evening and falling to 18C by the time Fatboy Slim wraps up.
Saturday, July 25: Uncertain. The Met Office is forecasting rain from 2pm, but at time of writing (2pm, July 24) rain maps predict the rain clouds pushing in from the north-west will lose most of their energy over the Peak District and only result in a light sprinkling by Saturday afternoon. Highs of 24C and gusts of 13mph in the late afternoon. Any rain is expected to pass by 10pm, but don’t stay out too late - heavier showers are forecast after 3am on Sunday.
Sunday, July 26: Rainy! Heavier showers are expected overnight from Saturday into Sunday and will likely persist for most of Sunday morning, giving festivalgoers a chance to bring a poncho from home. High chance of intermittent showers all day right up until Wolf Alice leaves the stage with 11mph winds. Cooler, with highs of 21C.
Huge crowds are once again expected to descend on the Steel City for this year’s event which features a star-studded list of headline acts along with a whole host of other great artists and comedians.
At the same time, dozens of venues across Sheffield will hold their own live music events for The Fringe at Tramlines, drawing tens of thousands to the city.
