This is when heavy rain and sunny spells are forecast in Sheffield over bank holiday weekend
Weather in the city is set to be a mixed bag over the bank holiday weekend
After weeks upon weeks of dry and sunny conditions, summery weather has made way for heavy rain and thunderstorms in Sheffield.
And now, it looks as though the city is going to have a mixture of both over the course of the bank holiday weekend.

Forecasters at the Met Office say it will be dry to start on Saturday (August 29, 2026), perhaps with “some early sunny spells for eastern coasts.”
“Rain, heavy at times, then becoming widespread from late morning, persisting for the rest of the day. Maximum temperature 21 °C,” the Met Office forecast for Saturday states.
Their more detailed forecast for Saturday shows heavy rain is more likely between 1pm and 6pm, while sunny spells are expected between 6am and 8pm.

The Met Office says unsettled weather looks set to continue into the start of next week with outbreaks of rain or showers, occasionally heavy with the risk of thunder. Temperatures around normal.
On Sunday (August 30, 2026), sunny spells are forecast from 8am, up until 2pm when Sheffield may be hit by rain showers, their detailed forecast shows.
Showers are expected to make way for heavy rain, with the Met Office forecast suggesting heavy rain is more likely from 3pm all the way through to 9pm.

Lighter showers are expected for the rest of the evening, up until midnight.
On Bank Holiday Monday (August 31, 2026), light rain showers are currently forecast between 8am and 3pm.
Sunny spells are also expected on Monday, between 6am and 8am, and then again from 3pm through to 8pm.
As workers return to offices on Tuesday (September 1, 2026), sunny conditions are expected all day, up until 4pm, when rain showers are forecast all evening with the exception of around 7pm when there is expected to be a brief break in the wet weather.
