More rain expected over the weekend

Environment Agency bosses have issued an update on the flood alert issued in Sheffield.

The city suffered flash flooding in areas including London Road and Kelham Island after hours of torrential rain hit the city on Thursday, August 27.

And last night there was more rain and thunderstorms.

But the Environment Agency has now confirmed that it has removed the nine flood alerts which were in place throughout the day.

The Met Office yellow warning for thunderstorms ended this morning.

However, the city can expect to see more rain over the weekend.

Forecasters at the Met Office are predicting heavy rain on both Saturday and Sunday afternoons.
