Guests look on as fire crews arrive to tackle the blaze at Doncaster's Premier Inn.

It is understood the fire might have been started on a bed inside the room.

Six fire engines from across South Yorkshire were dispatched to the blaze while police and ambulances were also in attendance.

Guests and staff were led to safety and watched on from the car park as fire officers entered the building to tackle the flames before they spread throughout the building.

No one was injured in the fire and an investigation is now under way, with police and fire crews remaining at the hotel throughout much of the day while they try to piece together what happened.

A spokesman for Premier Inn said: “I can confirm that the emergency services were called to an isolated fire in the hotel.

"No guests were present in the room at the time, and the hotel was safely evacuated by the team.

"We are now assisting the fire brigade while they carry out their investigations.”
