South Yorkshire Police (SYP) Operational Support have posted a statement warning drivers of delays on September 1, where traffic will be stopped in all directions after Arena Square will be closed for a period of time.

The loads will be following the route from A180, M180, M18 and then M1. They will leave Immingham Docks at 7pm and are expected to be at the M1 junction 34 at Tinsley around 8.30pm to 9pm.

Due to the width of the loads, SYP will only allow traffic to pass “if safe to do so”, so it is expected to cause some traffic and delays.

After the convoy leaves the M1 at Tinsley, it will travel along Attercliffe Common towards Arena Square, and at this point officers will be stopping traffic in all directions.

This will allow the loads to reverse contraflow onto Broughton Lane as they are too long to make the normal right turn.

Once this has been completed, the loads will move towards Carbrook Street, where this road will be closed to allow them to reverse into the site.

Arena Square will need to be completely clear of all traffic to minimise risks to the public or other motorists, so there will be delays.

However these manoeuvres should only take around 15 to 20 minutes, according to SYP.

In the post, they have advised road users to use another route or to set off earlier if this might affect your journey.
