'Listen to voters on Shalesmoor Roundabout works - or vote yourselves out' - Reader's letter

Tony Abdy shares his views on the Shalesmoor plans...

It would seem our - and I say "our" - council is determined to spend a lot of their "ring fenced " money on a reworking of the roundabout at the bottom of Netherthorpe Road on the ring road (Shalesmoor Roundabout).

They have been variously quoted as saying it’s "dangerous" and "grid locked". Sheffielders have been quick to respond by giving anecdotal evidence it is actually one of the best performing of the ring road junctions.

I would like to give my appraisal in addition to this as a driver and cyclist using this area every day.

There is a good through flow and in the last decade I can't remember an accident; nor have I been held up except on match days or where there were road works.

Now, either I'm a liar or the spokespeople for the council are just saying whatever they’ve heard on the grapevine of rumour or it’s expedient to repeat something a few times before you dig up a junction in an unpopular move.

Can you please just spend this money on POTHOLES!! For once just listen to the voters.

You will no doubt push through this for another Woodseats disaster and leave half of Sheffield's roads in poorer repair than rural Nepal but then complain when voters opt for Reform.

Well congratulations, it’s your cloth ears that are recruiting Farage's army and not an untested and inexperienced Reform.

They are just sitting back and watching you build this mess and waiting until you vote yourselves out.

Be warned you won’t find your cushy pensions and generous salaries back out in our world.
