The plan for the Shalesmoor roundabout is good news, the same as the West Bar cycle lanes and other associated infrastructure.

The funding cannot be spent on anything else, as it is ring-fenced funding from the Department For Transport and must be used solely for the purpose of transport schemes.

It needs complementing with a much more frequent and cheaper bus service, such as under the former South Yorkshire transport, Park & Ride sites as well as reopened rail lines.

Reopening the former Woodhead route from the old Sheffield Victoria station as far as Deepcar with new stations to serve Kelham Island/Neepsend, Wadsley Bridge, Oughtibridge and Deepcar would be a good start.
