Cables grabbed a last gasp equaliser in the extra-preliminary round clash to ensure a replay on Tuesday night at the Merseyside club.

Club made a bright start and almost had an early lead when James Gregory latched onto a fine through ball from Alfie Eagle only to be denied with a fine save.

But Sheffield did grab the opened on the half hour mark when Sam Wright volleyed home from the edge of the area.

Cables found the equaliser five minutes from the break when Jack Lenehan reacted quickest after Club keeper Adam Kelsey palmed away a mis-hit shot.

Sheffield thought they had retaken the lead on the hour only for Marc Newsham's looping header to be ruled out for offside.

Gregory hit the woodwork before Gavin Smith's men got their deserved reward on 66 minutes when Mitchell Dunn was cropped in the area before brushing himself down to slot in the penalty.

But Sheffield soon suffered a blow when Stuart Ludlam was sent off for a second yellow card.

Prescot pushed and hit the post with a free kick but Club also threatened and it took another fine save to deny Gregory.

However Cables did the grab the equaliser in added time when Josh Kllein-Davies smashed home a cross from close range.

Sheffield almost snatched a dramatic winner in the final seconds but Johnny Pugh could only turn wide after sliding onto a cross.
