Call for meeting over vandalism

Trees have been vandalised in a popular Sheffield park, says one the area’s ward councillors.

And Coun Sean Maloney, who represents East Ecclesfield on Sheffield Council, says he wants a community meeting over the damage, including saplings snapped in the park.

He said: “Thank you for the considerable number of residents who reported this.

“I have already reported this to Parks Department, but this needs nipping in the bud. Dark nights will give the perpetrators more cover to carry out their wanton vandalism.”

He is looking to hold a meeting locally in the next couple of weeks.
