Robbie Hattersley, who recorded the footage, said he was at the bottom of Wardsend Road in Hillsborough, near Hallam FM’s studios, when he saw the creature at around 8pm this evening, Monday, April 5.

"I saw what looked like an average-sized animal at the top of the road, which I thought was maybe a labrador or something,” he said.

"As I got closer, I realised it wasn’t a dog but was actually a wild boar.

"I decided to record it as I knew nobody would believe me! I was along with the boar for about a minute and then the police arrived from further up the path, so I guess they must already have been alerted.

"As for where it came from, I have no idea. It definitely seemed wild though.”

Police have since confirmed the creature is in fact a pot-bellied pig, whose owners are being sought.
