People have spoken of their ‘heartbreak’ following the tragedy, which happened on the motorway near Woodhall just before 7.30pm yesterday, Sunday, April 4.

Police said two people were pronounced dead at the scene after a vehicle came off the northbound carriageway between junctions 30 for Barlborough and 31 for Sheffield

Police have yet to name the people who died or give further details, including their ages, though some tributes suggest one of the victims had a young child.

One person, writing on social media, said: “Heartbreaking. You will be missed boys.”

Another person said ‘RIP lads. Taken too soon’, and a third wrote ‘Sad, sad, sad. Gonna miss you bro bro’.

A fourth person commented: “RIP boys. Just can’t believe it. Thinking of both families at this heartbreaking time.”

And another person wrote: “Too many great memories... One in a million. Rest easy up there.”
