Lulu Blundell, the Sheffield Rugby Union Club junior, who inspired many with her bravery and determination, died at the age of 19, the club has announced. She had battled a rare form of bone cancer for four years, which led to her lower left leg being amputated just months after her diagnosis at the age of 15.

A JustGiving page has been set up in memory of Lulu, who lived in Rotherham and attended Oakwood School. You can log on there to donate to Teenage Cancer Trust who were with her and her family “every step of the way.”

Lulu raised tens of thousands of pounds for the Teenage Cancer Trust and Weston Park Hospital over the years following her diagnosis with Ewing’s sarcoma. Only in September last year, Lulu took part in a fundraising run after being told earlier in the summer that her cancer had returned.
